When we started the book on MSP432, the MSP432 Launchpad board from TI used MSP-432P401R CPU chip. The MSP432P401R Launchpad is discontinued and no longer manufactured. In 2018, TI introduced a new version of the MSP432 Launchpad. In the new MSP432 board, the CPU chip was replaced with MSP-EXP432E401Y chip. Unfortunately, the MSP432P and MSP432E are not compatible. That means the program in the book will not run on the new MSP432E401Y Launchpad. Instead you can use MSP432P4111 Launchpad board. If you are using our MSP432 book, we recommend that you purchase the MSP432P4111 Launchpad board.
The original MSP432 Launchpad board from TI was Black. It used XMS432P401R Rev B MCU. In early 2016, TI introduced the MSP432 Launchpad Red board. In this Red board, MCU on the MSP432 LaunchPad was replaced with production MSP432P401R Rev C chip.
